draft experts?

We have made it draft week! All the mocks, research, and podcast hours are finally coming to an end. This time next week we will know where all the prospects have gone and hope will be springing for every fanbase around the NFL. It’s the best time of the off-season, and will carry us right into training camp.

But what about all the “experts” that we listen to from the moment that the clock hits triple zero on the Super Bowl? The people we “trust” to tell us the rumblings around the league. Isn’t it time to hold them accountable? Well let’s take a look back at the last three draft classes after the COVID-19 pandemic draft, and see how the top draft analysts did with their picks, and who knows maybe your podcast list will shorten.

Rules:

1 These results are based on first round selections only

2 The “team” column represents the hit rate based on what team drafted the player. (Example: If the expert picked Trevor Lawrence to get drafted by the Jaguars in 2021 he would get credit for the pick, even if he said the Jaguars traded back and picked him at three)

3 The “position” column represents hitting the draft position correctly regardless of team. (Example: If the expert picked CJ Stroud to go number two overall in 2023, but had the Colts moving up to get him, he would only receive credit for draft position, not team)

4. Averages are based on both team and positions picked correctly over the course of the three draft years.
