Week 1 Over reactions
Have you caught your breath yet? Depending on when you read this the injury reports for day one of the week two practice week are out and we’re .
With that being said lets take a look back at week one and see what is an overreaction and what isn’t.
Overreaction: Marvin Harrison is a bust.
I cannot believe how many articles, posts, and outbursts by fans I have seen saying that he will not be a successful wide receiver. He was targeted three times and could have had potential TD in those three targets. Week one on the road (eastern time zone by the way), a solid defense, a running QB, and facing a good secondary. The Cardinals will find ways to get him involved, because they have to as the 4th overall pick.
Not an overreaction: Kirk Cousins
All off-season long the Falcons were the darling of the NFC South, but Kirk Cousins did not look right. Let me be clear, I don’t think that is his fault, however it needs to be noted that he just “looks” hesitant. He didn’t plant much off that foot and just used so much of his upper body to throw. Could we see Penix sooner than later?
Overreaction: Fields is the guy
Listen, did they win? Yes they did, but to think that he has solidified his job as the starting QB for the Steelers is a little pre-mature. This offense is anemic and you can make an argument that this team goes as TJ Watt goes. This job is wide open still, so lets just wait until Russ is healthy.
Not an overreaction: The Rams have problems
Please understand that this doesn’t mean they are done. I trust McVay and Stafford, but this team is banged up, and I mean BANGED up. Linemen, receivers, defensive players. It’s honestly hard to comprehend how many injuries they have post week one. This team is swimming in dangerous waters early in the season. Their bye week can’t come fast enough.
Overreaction: Dallas is different this year.
Stop me if you have heard this before. Listen, this team will probably will win this week and the hype train will leave the station, but don’t worry they will lose a game they should win and then finish strong. Things will have to go PERFECT for Dak the rest of the way if things end up different.
Not an overreaction: The Giants made a mistake
There’s just no way around it. Daniel Jones is not it. What an awful weekend if you’re a Giants fan, player, coach, GM, or owner. Not only did they look awful against Minnesota in their week one loss, but Saquon Barkley went off in Brazil. This team has so many problems it’s hard to figure out where to begin.
This list could good on and on, but let’s get back to the lab fantasy owners and settled in for a great week two of NFL action!
