Preview and Pick
What I find so amazing about the above stats is that when you look at them the narrative the media portrays becomes really skewed. I get that Mahomes is on a path to potentially be the greatest of all time, but for this season Hurts as had a really solid year in the midst of, at times, a really challenging season. Not long ago people were calling for Nick Sirianni to be fired. Hurts never really lost his cool and because of that kept the Eagles train rolling through South Philly.
Mahomes kept his team together through a different type of challenge this year- apathy. I have never seen a team just kind of “ho-hum” their way to a 15-2 season. They had their moments where they could have just rested on their laurels and “cashed it in,” but from block kicks, to one possession games, and blow outs they got it done.
The most intriguing thing I have regarding this Super Bowl is the chess matches between coaches. Let’s be honest here, no matter what you think about Sirianni the advantage goes to the Chiefs on this one. What’s interesting though is that there is a bit of history here. Sirianni has faced Reid enough times whether it be as a head coach or OC to know enough about him. How he handles the Spags defense and just the expertise of Reid will be fascinating.
At this point there really isn’t much else to do other than play the game. Depending on when you read this the teams will have already had a couple of practices in New Orleans. No matter what the final result is we will see history made.
We hope that you enjoyed the season here at BENCH’D as much as the me and the boys have. Stay tuned for plenty of free agency, draft, and other off-season news. As you know the NFL never truly rests, and remember September is coming!
